Having established a very successful restaurant in the northern suburbs, owner Philip Human saw the opportunity to open another branch of Lemon Butta in the expanding seaside resort of Hermanus. He was fortunate to secure excellent premises in the Village Square Centre which has superb sea views of the bay which is a famous “whale watching” spot. Its premium location means that you can enjoy a stroll along the sea front either before or after your meal as there is ample safe parking in the square.

The clean lines of the interior are contemporary without being minimalistic and there is a full sushi counter to cater for the huge demand for this increasingly popular cuisine. Philip has got to great lengths to structure a menu that offers an amazing selection of seafood coupled with a wine list that is equally impressive. The wine list showcases a variety of wines from local lesser known estates as well as award winning wines from some of the more high profile estates. The sushi menu is extensive with so many mouth watering dishes to choose from including Japanese-style oysters, colourful salads and umpteen combinations of sashmi, nigiri and various platters.

The main menu caters for all tastes from simple plate of fresh fish and chips, to the Royal Shellfish Platter with a superb selection of seafood that is indeed “fit for a King”. Prawns feature extensively on the menu and are available in different sizes from Queen through to Tiger Giant. Starter recommendations (besides sushi of course!) include the grilled Calamari which is available in 6 different styles to suit your palate - lemon butter, garlic butter, Cajun, peri-peri, Cape Malay or green Thai curry. Soup lovers will enjoy the Mussel Chowder which is a wholesome chunky seafoof soup, or the Prawn Bisque with its thick creamy broth. Main course Specialities include the baked whole line fish (when available) and both the Prawn and the Crab Curry. There are a couple of pastas dishes suitable for vegetarians as well as number of salad options. For dessert try the Choco Hot Pots - it’s certainly worth the wait for this decadent moist sponge with its oozing chocolate centre!
