Jochen Riedel’s dream was to become a chef and his journey to successfully accomplish this began with his apprenticeship training at the Landhaus Wirth Hotel in Germany at the age of 17. He gained experience at top German hotels such as the Traube Tonbach where he prepared dished for the likes of the Russian President, Franz Beckenbauer and various European actors. During 1995 Riedel arrived in South Africa and for the past 15 years worked as the head chef at the Grande Roche Hotel. In need of a change, Riedel captivated Nils Heckscher and his team, with his culinary masterpieces.

The ambience of this beautiful restaurant strikes you immediately. With its wonderful sea-views and harmonious decor, Harveys maintains an informal feel, which is welcoming, laid-back and at the same time vibrant. The colour scheme is a striking combination of dark and light wood tones.
“Harveys at the Mansions” is open from 12:00 to 15:00 for lunch and from 19:00 to 22:30 for dinner.

From Hout Bay, follow Victoria Road over the mountain, past Llandudno, Camps Bay & Bantry Bay. As you head into Sea Point, pass the circle that opens onto Regent Rd, and continue down into Beach Road. From Muizenberg take the M3 freeway to Eastern Boulevard. When you exit Eastern Boulevard, turn left into Evard Street. Follow Evard through Green Point, where it runs into Western Boulevard, which eventually becomes Beach Road through Sea Point. The Winchester Mansions Hotel will be on your left hand side.
