Trendy

Picture Yo Sushi in Sandton Central, Sandton, Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa We've said it before, and we'll say it again, Sushi, and particularly Yo Sushi is the trendiest eating experience on the planet. Of course it wasn't always like that - in fact Sushi has been a well-kept secret of Japanese cuisine. But as the ages dragged on and mankind learned to sail and palate exotic dishes, his taste buds evolved to high level of sophistication and today we find ourselves merrily munching on the "melt in your mouth" delights of raw fish.

Japan and all things Japanese have been the aesthetic darling of designers, off beat artists and the all-dressed-in-black crowd of DKNY pundits. We realized that this environment of Manga videos and retro Bruce Lee fashions was ripe for a funky new eating venue and so Yo Sushi was born. We wanted to create a restaurant that reflected and catered for this fast paced crowd and the innovation of a conveyer belt took customer satisfaction to a higher level. In our modern, spacious and Zen inspired Sushi bars you don't have to cope with a waiter as the conveyer belt is constantly laden with the whole variety of Yo Sushi dishes by our hard working chefs.

By crafting rice into various shapes and then adding seaweed, fish and a variety of vegetables, the sushi chef sculpts the many variations of the art form we find today.

One of the best things about sushi is that you can eat a wholesome meal without feeling stuffed. And even though it's low on calories, sushi is nutritious and packed with vitamins

In today's sushi-shops you can be served any drink you like with your sushi, but saké and green tea are pretty much obligatory. Saké is served warm, and you must drink it before you eat - not during your meal, and definitely not after. The tea on the other hand is served during the whole meal, because of its role as a palate cleaner. Green tea is essential for the full enjoyment of sushi, since it removes aftertastes and leaves the mouth fresh for the next serving. There is no set order in which the various kinds of sushi are eaten, but the nori-wrapped pieces should be eaten first, since the crispness of nori seaweed does not last long once it comes in contact with the damp rice.

Always look for the Yo Sushi name on a place you frequent. This is a new custom, and has a lot to do with the fact that Yo Sushi offers superb value for money, fresh fresher freshest ingredients, and a happy atmosphere with a massive menu. Remember this name... if it doesn't SAY Yo Sushi, then it ISN'T Yo Sushi!
