Picture Yamato in Illovo, Sandton, Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa It has been said, “ The mind once stretched by a new experience, can never go back to its original dimensions. “

Japanese cuisine is all embracing and caters for every need and taste.
Picture Yamato in Illovo, Sandton, Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa Yamato is one of the few, such Traditional Japanese Restaurants and offers most of Japan's customary cuisine.

As you will see, the underlying motivation has been the “traditional” approach, but at the same time has incorporated some of the more popular, contemporary dishes.

For some, Yamato has been a nostalgic bond to a past, happy memory of a previous visit to Japan, while for others, it has been an amazing journey of self- discovery, realizing a new “experience” and embracing a new obsession.
Picture Yamato in Illovo, Sandton, Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa Yamato has enticed patrons for the past 8 years and continues to keep current- and attract new regulars by offering a variety of Japanese styled, “set menu specials” at lunch, while providing delicacies in the evening that change with the season and are seldom found in any other Restaurant (in this country).

Family is important and the reason why we have made further specials available on Sunday. Family is associated with sharing and therefore Specials are focused more on Sushi and rolled sushi, so that all can enjoy in the “experience”.

As the Japanese are not big on desserts, it would have to be said that the proof is not in the pudding, but rather in the “experience” of these Pallet-Pleasing dishes.
