Picture Sir Herbert Restaurant in Brooklyn (PTA), Pretoria Central, Pretoria / Tshwane, Gauteng, South Africa The Sir Herbert Restaurant is under new ownership / management and the owner is Ms Mathapelo Ranny Mokala. The Sir Herbert Restaurant is situated in the heartland of corporate business offices n Brooklyn Pretoria as well as embassies. Our vision is to become the main meeting place for business people at lunchtime, as well as catering for office parties and special occasions.

In the evenings we are aiming to provide a classy and upmarket place where people can enjoy fine dining as well as good music (mostly light classical). We will regularly host wine tasting evenings, music evenings as well as other specially organised events. These events will strive towards building a cultural hub for Pretorians where they can enjoy themselves in an upmarket and safe location.
Picture Sir Herbert Restaurant in Brooklyn (PTA), Pretoria Central, Pretoria / Tshwane, Gauteng, South Africa The restaurant is situated in a house designed by British architect, Sir Herbert Baker (hence the name) and we are aiming to continue in the style, ambiance and genre of that era. It has a distinctive early South African feel and takes one back in time. It has seating for 34 people inside, as well as a beautiful outside area which can seat another 15 people. This means that almost every taste can be catered for.

The food is a perfect example of fine dining cuisine; a mixture of traditionally South African, international cuisine with a hint of Cape Malay, presented with French flair. It is not just food to fill the stomach, but culinary art that appeals to all the senses.

Our favourite dishes:
Starters: Snails served with a spinach tart, bone marrow and tomato relish; as well as the Springbok Carpaccio, which is served with blue cheese stuffed litchis.
Main course: The Karoo Lamb, which is served on the bone, very tender with farmerís pumpkin; as well as the Kingklip, served with dill, lemon and a dash of cream.
Dessert: Cape Brandy Pudding; as well as our Sago Pearls.

It is not old fashioned in any way, however, and beautiful oil paintings by well-known South African artists adorn the walls and the ambiance is warm, welcoming and uplifting. The outside seating can be either under a thatched lapa or smaller tables under umbrellas in a beautiful garden.

We will host special events and occasions in cooperation with customers, such as fund raisers or corporate events. We are open to suggestions and requests and are more than prepared to adapt to and host whatever events customers want to arrange. We will also regularly host special occasions, such as wine tasting, menu tasting and music evenings.
