Raith Gourmet opened their new store in July 2011 in the High Constantia Centre on Constantia Main Road. The owners wanted a butcher-baker-deli with a restaurant where clients can experience down to earth European flavours. Their German specialised cuisine definitely hits the spot with food for the soul and not the “hips”.

|
The food is made with fresh, carefully selected produce and organic where possible. Some of the most popular items are the shop's gourmet sandwiches like their rare roast beef with tangy mustard mayo and grilled vegetables, or the mouth-watering Camembert on salad topped with sweet tomato relish. Guests can order platters with cold meats, bread and pickles.
Breakfast is a grand affair with options like the Bavarian weisswurst with brezel and sweet mustard or prosciutto on scrambled eggs with tomato and mozzarella. The shop only uses an exquisite Italian brand coffee, Haus Brandt, and even though the name sounds very German, the owners import it from Italy!

Bunches of fresh flowers for sale greet guests as they enter into the open plan interior with its bright red walls and gourmet produce counters. Butchery, bakery or deli – it’s hard to decide which is the most tempting, as each offers an impressive selection of top quality products enabling customers to enjoy a European retail experience with a South African influence.
On sunny days patrons can enjoy the fresh air in the outside seating area with its shady green canopy of majestic trees.
