Picture Joubert-Tradauw Al Fresco Deli in Barrydale, Overberg, Western Cape, South Africa 12 Km West of Barrydale on the R62, 2 hours West of Oudtshoorn and 50 Km east of Montagu lays Joubert-Tradauw, a boutique, family-owned cellar with the focus on classic, elegant, hand-crafted wines to be enjoyed with good food; therefore ensuring premium quality.

DELI: The deli, run by Beate Joubert, add to the visitor's wine experience with boere tapas enjoyed alfresco style. The building use to be a neglected unused structure before they changed it into the charming deli you find today. Seating under the vine covered veranda offers guests a magnificent view over the farm, Tradauw Valley and Langeberge. Items on offer includes delicacies from farm fruits such as fresh figs, kakamas and plums, or preserved in winter times with cranberries, nuts, sunflower seeds and mint, to warm dishes like bobotie with onion relish and rosemary and lemon chicken. Picnic items are also available like the ciabatta stuffed with olives and figs and nutty seed loaves.

The to-die-for chocolate cake, served with a luscious green fig, is flavoured with mint from a potager in old wine barrels.

Beate’s Karoo tapas food served in “alfresco” style and laden Mediterranean platters call for sharing and slowing down. It is the combinations of flavours that people find intriguing and different! In winter, the Deli is always open, but the boere/tapas restaurant is ONLY open by appointment..so, we would love to prepare your lunch for you, provided that we know you’re coming.. to give our best and to be prepared..please call Beate with your date, pax and possible time.
