On stepping through the gate at Emily Moon River Lodge you'd be forgiven for thinking you'd stepped back in time. The feeling of bygone era is just what owners Mark and Christine Valentine wanted to achieve with the creation of their magical luxury lodge. There are eight beautiful suites each decorated in the individual style of its owners, each lodge has a log fire for those chilly nights and a deck with a never ending view of the winding waters of the Bitou River and wetlands. You need not have to be a guest in the lodge to experience the wonders of the restaurant Emily Moon run by chef extraordinaire Larry Steenkamp. He and his welcoming and friendly team have set a standard of excellence - Larry makes simple food look and taste great and everything is fresh on his daily changing menu. It is a combination of food, incredible decor of mystical African and Indian pieces, romantic and warm ambience that makes Emily's one of the most popular restaurants on the Garden Route booked by international guests long before they arrive. It is a visual feast of exquisite pieces which adorn the walls and surrounds and certainly if you are in the area do not miss visiting this spot for either lunch with the spectacular view or a candlelit dinner of excellent food

From Plettenberg Bay you stay on the N2 highway, passing the Shell Ultra & Engen Petrol stations. After passing the Goose Valley golf course on the right you will see a signboard for Mallard River Lodge/Emily Moon River Lodge. Turn left at the "Rietvlei" road sign (Penny Pinchers Corner). Follow this road to the end, approx 1.4km’s, where you will find Emily Moon River Lodge/Mallard River Lodge .
