The Emergence of the Cattle Barons
During the American Civil War (while the farmers were away fighting), a new breed of entrepreneur was born, the Cattle Barons. These immensely rich and powerful men, along with their cowboys moved millions of unattended Texan cattle vast distances (under adverse conditions) across the Kansas plains to Railheads for transport to market centres. TIn the process, Jerry-built cattle towns such as Abilene, Wichita and Dodge became infamous. The Cattle Barons became legends.
Established in 1996 and an integral part of the Table View area, this regular dining venue for residents from Cape Town to Melkbosstrand has introduced many visitors from abroad to genuine South African grain-fed beef.

The menu is large so allow plenty of time to decide! Starter recommendations are the Carpaccio, Avocado Ritz (when in season) and the Starter Platter with its mouth watering combination of stuffed mushrooms, deep-fried calamari and venison carpaccio. There are plenty of scrumptious salads and an abundance of seafood. Main course recommendations are the Chateaubriand (a Cattle Baron speciality), the garlic rump, and the chicken cordon bleu. Portions cater for all appetites from a 200 gram fillet , to the 600 gram rump for the ravenously hungry! If you still have room for dessert finish off with a satisfying slice of cheesecake.
