Picture Café Portofino's in Jeffreys Bay, Cacadu (Sarah Baartman), Eastern Cape, South Africa Set in the heart of Jeffrey’s Bay is the family-friendly restaurant, Café Portofino's. The Italian restaurant has a penchant for conjuring up culinary creations while specialising in a wide variety of seafood and steak dishes. All tastes are catered for at this quaint eatery – from young children with tamed pallets to diners looking for a more adventurous food experience. Their selection of breakfast meals is sumptuous, tasty, and unique. The ‘Open Sandwich Breakfast’ is a hefty meal of three scrambled eggs and sauté mushrooms, served on either low GI, white, or brown bread. If you’re looking to go more ‘Italian’, ciabatta slices are also available.

The butternuts are gorged with a filling of your choice and served with a side salad. Both the ‘Chicken and Feta’ and ‘Oxtail’ come highly recommended.

While we all enjoy a good pancake or waffle for tea, very rarely does one choose them as a lunchtime meal. Opt for the ‘Chicken and Peppadew’ savoury pancake, filled with chicken breast, chopped peppadew and feta, and served with a basil pesto. Supper time diners can enjoy a wide range of hearty mains. The ‘Fillet Kebab’ is a veritable feast and is served with potato wedges, and vegetables.

Diners can enjoy Italian fare made complete with a warm ambiance. With the café’s elegant appeal, vibrant colours, and wide-open spaces, one might feel as if transported to an authentic café on the side streets of Italy.
